Tip #1: Bring your ID.
You'll need government-issued photo identification to get into a dispensary. Most people just bring their driver's license, but if you don't have a driver's license, an official photo ID card or passport will work. If you're going to a medical dispensary, you will also need your medical cannabis card, but if you're going to a recreational dispensary, this is not necessary.
Tip #2: Look at the menu first.
When you step into the dispensary, you may initially feel a little overwhelmed by all of the options. It helps if you already have an idea of what you're looking for, whether that is a certain strain of flower or a certain flavor of edible. Most dispensaries publish their menus online, so spend a little time looking the menu over before you visit. You can jot down the names of a few items you want to buy so you can reference them later on.
Tip #3: Talk to the budtenders.
At most dispensaries, there will be employees standing behind the counter where the cash registers and products are located. Understand that these folks are there to do more than just cash you out. They are budtenders, and as such, they know a lot about the strains and products that the dispensary sells. You can talk to them about your ailments and concerns, and they will recommend products for you to try. If you want to have a longer, more involved conversation with the budtenders, make sure you visit when the dispensary is less busy, such as in the middle of the day.
